Writing this up as I make the labels for this circle so I can point people at it in the future so they can help make labels!

I left the box of envelopes alone for five minutes while I was picking up other stuff.

On the right are the ones Sarah labelled before she had to go sleep. On the left are the ones that still need labels. I got them all done! By the end I had to push the vials closed with the end of a sharpie because I'd shredded both thumbs, but I got them all done.

Today: Sarah will label the rest when she wakes up, then we put decants in bags. I might get to ship a few of them for Monday, but I'm not going to promise anything, since they have to be wrapped and there are a lot of add-ons and extras to wrangle. Tuesday should be possible, though.

Also: I've just bought our third flat of 2030 vials, because this circle has nearly cleared me out again. AGAIN.

Decanting over the cat just ends up with cat fur everywhere and an odd smelling cat.

For those of you who are also on the forum, you may have seen my little spat with the moderators, who are not members of the reality based community. These pics are some evidence. You can safely ignore the drama, heh.

Fatherhood, future frimps (I was running low and restocked from the forum; there are way more coming) and a bottle of Unspeakably Evil Temple since ours is getting low. Next step: putting the frimps into my spreadsheet and then into the appropriate bags in the frimps box. Which I need to do before the next round comes in. (I've got like 500 imps on their way to me.)

Why, yes, I am procrastinating on making the labels for Weenies, why do you ask.

Unpacked!

Labeled and resting. I'm gonna give them an overnight rest before decanting.

(It sure doesn't look like $1500 of perfume, does it?)

Which I'm doing right now for pickup tomorrow. I'm so sorry about the delay on this one, folks.

Going through them all to see what I want to keep. That's a lot of perfume.

Forty five bags of decants: having to do things differently. Usually I'd deal the bags out on the table, but the table isn't big enough! So instead I walk through the bags with my fingers like I'm combing through a card catalog. (I think I just dated myself.)

Don't tell anyone, but I kind of love this part. This and pulling frimps. Which I also did tonight. Most of your frimps are from the A-B bag: it was too full to add any more, so I had to get rid of a bunch of them. Mwah ha ha.

EDIT: Man, there is nothing worse than packing all the bags and then staring mournfully at the extra decant and extra half bottle left over that shouldn't be. (Found which bag I hadn't put the half bottle in; the extra decant, I just decanted too many.)

Filling in from right to left: spot the point at which I gave up on getting the whole name on the label.

Everything is here and I'll be able to start right after dinner!

I was texting progress photos to Sarah all afternoon, so I figured I would share them with you as well.

Also: I made a general offer to the forums to take unwanted GC imps off people's hands cheaply so I could have frimps for future circles, and I got a really (really) huge response. I've also had a lot of people say that they're new to BPAL and just want to try a wide variety of things. Some of the "giant pile of GC imps" got here already, so it occurred to me that an "imp grab bag" might be nice to offer. $1/imp (which is what I paid for them), you tell me how many you want, I'll reach into the box and grab that many imps and add them to your package. No guarantee on condition of label or fill level of imp, though it'll be enough to test from and I'll aim for the more full ones. I'll try to avoid duplicates, too.

If you're interested: comment here with how many you want and I'll invoice you for them.

What 180 BPAL imps look like:

Part of my process involves making baggies for everyone's stuff, each carefully labelled with your name, invoice #, and count of what you ordered. I decided to pull frimps and put them in the baggies in advance of the big package getting here, since said big package is going to take a hell of a long time to decant and I wanted to save as much time as possible. Hence, laying out all the imps!

The top bit is all the GC imps I have in the frimps bin, in piles alphabetically. (Or rather, in piles by first letter of the scent name -- I don't sort more than that.) The ziplock baggie at the bottom is all the LE decants I have in the frimps bin.

I have a spreadsheet containing the names of all the things in the frimps bin, so I start by going through the signups and finding everyone who's given me a wishlist link (they get priority on the frimps, so that I'm not taking an imp that somebody wanted and putting it in the bag of somebody who hasn't expressed a preference) and cross-correlating the wishlist and the spreadsheet. When I find a hit, I take the imp out of the pile and off the inventory spreadsheet. Then, I go back and fill in everybody else's frimps from what I've got left over.

This time around, I think I was able to get at least one hit from nearly everybody who gave me a wishlist -- and hopefully everyone else will enjoy at least one of what you get instead!

Everything's been bagged up now. Tomorrow we bubblewrap, print postage, and bag up the envelopes, and they go to the post office on Monday.

I won't spoil the extras, since I know how much fun it is to open a package and find stuff you didn't expect, but thanks to a bunch of eBay shopping I was able to really rock the extras this time! (This is why I ask you for your GC wishlists...) For people who were in the Gaiman circle, I was able to portion out the prototype decants [personal profile] elisem sent to me so that I got five sniffies out of each decant, which means everyone has at least three or four (and sometimes more) prototype sniffies with at least enough oil in them for two or three skin tests.

In-US people who were in both the Gaiman and Metamorphosis circles, and who paid shipping for both, have had PayPal partial refunds issued for one of the two. Outside-US people, I will refund you when I figure out how much the actual shipping costs are. (I won't count the freebies in the shipping costs; those are my treat.)

Finally, I thought people might enjoy seeing the process, so I took some pics while I was decanting yesterday. (I didn't wind up doing any pics today during the divvying-up portion, alas.)
