For those of you who are also on the forum, you may have seen my little spat with the moderators, who are not members of the reality based community. These pics are some evidence. You can safely ignore the drama, heh.

Okay, now I'm kind of interested in the drama, tbh. How the hell do they even argue with this?

Assuming best-case scenario that the rules were put into place at a point where the mods thought that imps actually contained 1 ml AND the Lab was more careful about filling bottles only to 5 ml (they used to fill by hand, it's theoretically possible they were more careful about it or maybe sometimes underfilled)... I could squint and see how the mods might not want decanters to sell more than 5 decants per bottle because the recipients might not receive them.

But with imps at 0.7 ml at the most, the only thing that pricing and selling at 5x per bottle gets is higher priced decants and unsold leftovers.

As far as I can tell, it's because the mods would rather chew glass than admit they were wrong about something.

It's really nutty. I said this in a comment elsewhere in this DW but everyone knows the Lab overfills, people even specify "Lab full" or "unopened, the bottle came this full" with a picture because the Lab nearly always gives you more.

And as for people ordering stuff they then never got....*cough*DragonCon*cough*

Okay I am very curious about the drama. What happened?

Super belatedly (sorry, was trying to get this out the door and then ran off for a long weekend trip): forum rules specify that you can only sell 5 slots in a bottle, despite bottles being WAY more full than that. The forum mods apparently think decants are 1mL. They're not: they're 1/5 dram, which is .74mL, but you can't fill the vial to the top or else there's no room to add the cap/wand, so it works out to be about .7mL. So you can get, at minimum, 6 decants out of a bottle, and usually 7. (Sometimes more! I've gotten 9 out of a bottle a few times, because the Lab often overfills.)

So, I decided to do this circle on the forum as well because a few of the scents weren't completely filling up and because the 5-slots-to-a-bottle rule and the rules for number of bottles you can have open at any given time, across all your circles, mean that decant circles fill ridiculously quickly and the few decanters who are willing to put up with the bullshit rules often can't open another circle because they haven't fully finished the previous circle. (Because forum bullshit rules say that you can't consider a circle finished until everyone in the circle has confirmed to you, publicly, that they've gotten their package -- tracking information proving deliver isn't enough.) Because the forum rules on number-of-bottles-in-a-circle are bullshit, I ignored them and took 6 slots to a bottle by calling that extra slot 'waitlist' (which is allowed, or used to be) and charging for it (which is not allowed). Someone apparently got a bee up their nose about me charging for waitlist slots, or about calling the forum rules bullshit, or about me confirming that I was doing the circle both on-and-off-forum, or God knows; they reported me to the mods, who came into the thread to issue the most patronizing 'warning' in the universe, demoted me one level (their level system is suuuuuch bullshit omg), and changed the rules to say that nobody could take waitlists anymore.

So I figured I'd take pictures to prove that their rules are bullshit and to prove to people that the 5-slots-to-a-bottle means that decanters are overcharging circle participants in order to have 30% of the bottle left over despite the costs of the bottle already having been covered, meaning that decanters are either a) turning a 30% profit on every bottle they decant from or b) having their own perfume habit subsidized by decanting. Which, I mean, I am not at all opposed to decanters turning a profit or having their own BPAL hobby subsidized! It is ridiculously hard work. But the mod party line is that 5-slots-to-a-bottle is for forum members' "protection" somehow, and that is such ridiculous bullshit I had to make a point.

Nope! Nobody has said a word! But I've had seven people ask me privately where I decant off-forum, so apparently I am not the only one who sees the bullshit :P
